It is with great honor to recommend Emily Busse to you for your next hire. 

My name is Joyce Nadig, Senior Director of Product Development, Sourcing and Production for Iconix Brand Group.  I was tasked with our designer and merchandising team from Amazon to create the Starter Brand as a private label exclusively for Amazon from 2017 – 2020.

Starter was to cover all apparel and accessory categories related to the needs of a historical iconic active brand.  Coupled with our company goal, Amazon’s goal and expectation is to ship product which will average no less than 4.2 stars in reviews. To achieve and maintain this level of expertise one must have great knowledge within each product category.

We were in dire need of an expert in bras, underwear, seamless activewear, compression and socks of which the designer, Amazon merchants and I had no knowledge. After much exploration, Emily walked into the room and took command,  presenting these categories in the most professional, collaborative, nurturing knowledge packed presentation possible, at that point we all knew we found our missing link. 

Emily and her team season after season continued to build on these original SKUs expanding into bags, hats, belts and base wear.   She was so trusted and respected by my company and the Amazon team that she and her group were the only “outside vendors” allowed to join our merchandise meetings. 

As we were building a new brand it is critical to know that not only did Emily and her Team create product, they created the fit and packaging, sourced the fabrics, worked on pricing, managed the endless sampling for Amazon, and made sure not a piece of the process required by Amazon was missed. 

It is important to understand that in the early days of Amazon developing their “special brands” every day had new rules. These rules could be as simple as how to submit samples to relabeling all production to include the five new countries which Amazon would be shipping!  Emily handled these initiatives with seamless grace and skill, getting the job accomplished, challenges roll off her back.  

Emily’s organizational skills created the cement which held the merchandising together.  The vast variety and number of SKUs Amazon required to drive business to the Starter pages was overwhelming but with Emily’s charts and documentation we able to navigate thru the product range without loosing a SKU.  

I will be forever grateful to Emily for taking charge and building this business as a true partner and friend.  Honest, trustworthy, a team player and team leader just the person anyone wants on their team. You are a very lucky person to have her on your team.  And… P.S we hit 4.2 star average!
